If you are a fan of skateboarding, or just free games in general, then you will love this brand-new title which arrives on PlayStation Plus as a day-one release.

Published by Devolver Digital and developed by Sam Eng, Skate Story is a brand-new skateboarding game which arrives as a day-one release for the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers on PlayStation 5.

Announced on an official PlayStation blog post, Skate Story’s arrival in the PS Plus library is a last-minute addition to its launch plans; the game will be available across PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

“Celestial skateboarding, a deal with the Devil, and giant philosophising heads? Skate Story is far from your everyday action sports tale, which you’ll be finding out soon enough when it flips onto PS5 December 8 as a PlayStation Plus Game Catalog day one release,” the official blog post reads.

First announced back in 2022, Skate Story is set to put a unique spin on the skateboarding and sports genre as a whole as it will see players take to the slopes in a unique setting.

“Skate fast to destroy vicious demons, help a forgetful frog, and save other tortured souls on your journey from fragile beginner to hardened skater,” the synopsis reads.

“Push through hell and discover The Devil’s greatest weakness: humility, perseverance, and a disgustingly sweet backside tailslide.”

Launching Next Week

Set to launch on 8 December (as well as arriving to PlayStation Plus on this date), Skate Story is set to be one of 2025’s biggest hidden gems and so its arrival on the subscription service will definitely help get it noticed and finish off the year with a bang.

“You are a demon in the Underworld, made out of glass and pain. The Devil has given you a skateboard with a simple deal: Skate to the Moon and swallow it — and you shall be freed,” the synopsis continues.

With your skateboard at hand, you will be able to ollie, kickflip, and grind your way through The Emptylands as you embark on what initially seems like an impossible quest.

However, you will soon learn that your skateboard is your greatest asset as you work your way through the various levels and, of course, master the perfect kickflip.

Skate Story launches in just a few days but if you would like to grab it at no extra cost, make sure you subscribe to PlayStation Plus' Extra or Premium tier and check out one of 2025’s biggest hidden gems.
