Having a PlayStation Plus subscription can be hit-or-miss depending on which titles Sony adds to its library on a monthly basis.

With some months being better than others, it is sometimes worth checking out some of the titles which may have slipped under the radar and are available for free courtesy of the PlayStation Plus library.

That is the case for one PS Plus offering which may be award-winning, but it is still massively underrated.

Still Wakes the Deep.

Developed by The Chinese Room and first launching back in 2024, Still Wakes the Deep is a psychological horror game which offers an immersive disaster story aboard a stunningly realised North Sea oil rig.

Set during 1975, Still Wakes the Deep kicks off after a disaster strikes an oil rig off the coast of Scotland.

Players will need to navigate the collapsing rig in order to save the rest of their crew from an otherworldly horror.

Winning three BAFTA Game Awards, this award-winning narrative experience has recently come to the attention of one user over on r/PlayStationPlus.

“Let me recommend you something: Still Wakes the Deep,” they shared.

“I’d like to recommend Still Wakes the Deep, one of the titles included in this month’s PS Plus Extra lineup.

“The game impressed me with its stunning graphical fidelity. While the story is relatively short, it’s gripping and atmospheric. Still Wakes the Deep is a psychological horror set on an isolated oil rig in the middle of the sea.

A short but impactful tale

“There’s no combat or mechanics here, your survival depends on navigating tense situations and solving simple puzzles. It’s a unique, and immersive experience.”

With the main story taking around 5-6 hours, it is a quick yet memorable experience and one that many players seem to agree is worth checking out this month.

“I enjoyed it quite a bit,” one comment read.

Another agreed, adding, “I played it a few months ago, bought it because I hoped it was a cool game, and it didn't fail. “

It is especially worth it if you want more, as its DLC Siren’s Rest was loved by our very own Olly Smith.

“It’s a good recommendation to anyone who enjoyed the original game’s twisted body horror extravaganza,” his review read.

So if you are on the lookout for a short, yet impactful horror game which is completely free to download for PlayStation Plus Extra members, make sure to check out Still Wakes the Deep this month.
