PlayStation Plus gamers treated to excellent bonus freebie, available now

This is a banger

PlayStation Plus users are over the moon with this incredibly freebie, and we simply cannot blame them.

In case you missed it, Far Cry 4, a game that came out in 2014, randomly got an update the other day that boosted the framerate on current-gen hardware.

For those that haven’t played, Far Cry 4 is a fantastic entry too, possibly one of the best.

Why Ubisoft decided that now would be a good time to update it is beyond us, but we’re glad it did and PlayStation Plus subscribers are too.

As one fan pointed out online, Far Cry 4 is available as one of the PlayStation Plus Extra titles, but if you have Ubisoft+ on any platform you’d be able to access it that way too.

Basically, if you have your PlayStation Plus subscription active and on the right tier, you can jump into this enhanced gem right now at no additional cost, and we’d urge you to do so.

“Played AC Syndicate just because of the 60 fps (very smooth!) Also hoping for AC Unity, even though I have the disk which is 60 fps without patch I think. I just hope they increased the resolution,” said one fan in response to the update.

“I know we all have good reasons to trash Ubisoft, but this is one of the few good things they do. Can't think of another company that releases a 60 fps patch for a 10 year old game,” added another.

Others praised the decision as Far Cry 4 is only around 20GB or so to install, so it’s very easy to jump straight in without a huge download.

It was also said Ubisoft should do the same for Far Cry 3, which while more dated is often the preferred title for many.

If you’ve got an active subscription to PlayStation Plus though, there’s no reason why you wouldn’t give this a go.
