PlayStation Plus users are remembering the reason why they fell in love with the service in the first place, as one gamer has discovered an underrated game they added to their library ages ago.

PlayStation Plus is a fantastic service for many reasons, one being that you can get a bunch of games at no extra cost and add them to your library to play at some point in the future.

That includes 3-4 games which are added to the monthly roster each month, as well as the multiple games that are included in PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium.

One user in particular was reminded of this, when they checked out Descenders on PlayStation Plus Essential.

“Every month I go and add all the new psplus games to my library, even the ones I have no interest in,” the user begins their post on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page.

“And normally I get a little grumpy about all this trash in my library, but today I was out sick and needed something that looked like dumb fun and found Descenders in there and holy sh** this game is great! How did I miss this when it was added?”

Originally released in 2019, Descenders is an arcade cycling game where you’re tasked with cycling downhill through various procedurally-generated mountain biking courses.

You can perform different tricks and moves to help keep your momentum, and there are various objectives and challenges to beat too.

It’s a fun game if you have a half-hour or so to just relax with a game, and I’d definitely join that Reddit post in recommending it if you have the time.

Descenders was added to PlayStation Plus Essential in May 2023, and it has also previously been tied to PlayStation Plus Extra and Xbox Game Pass.

A sequel came out earlier this year, titled Descenders Next, which changes the focus onto snowboarding rather than mountain biking.

“Best reason to add games to the library... Never know when you may want to play them,” reads one reply to the Reddit post.

“I wish I did this because there’s some from 2022/23 that I skipped over because I either forgot them or thought I wouldn’t want to play them,” another post reads.

“I learned this lesson the hard way when I skipped Slay the Spire,” another reads. “Pshh card math game? I'm never gonna play that. Boy was I an idiot.”

Let this be a lesson to always redeem the games that get added to PlayStation Plus Essential, just in case you one day fancy checking it out. You never know how your gaming tastes may change in the future.
