PlayStation has just dropped a bonus free download for a popular game, and it sounds like one you won’t want to miss.
If you find yourself looking through your extensive gaming library on PS5, you might have discovered that there are quite a few games that were released years ago which are still getting pretty substantial updates.
Control: Ultimate Edition is one of those games, and remains a popular choice for single-player oriented gamers who enjoy good stories and fast-paced gameplay.
Remedy Entertainment has released a new update for Control. It includes the The Astral Dive Suit, Tactical Response Gear, and Urban Response Gear outfits which were previously available as pre-order items.

It also includes a quest which was previously exclusive, the Dr. Yoshimi Tokui's Guided Imagery Experience mission, which also features a voiceover by game developer Hideo Kojima. This content has also been made available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
On the technical side, the update also adds unlocked frame rate and HDR support, VRR and 120Hz output support, as well as PSSR support on PS5 Pro. So altogether, it’s a fantastic update to check out, especially if you own a PS5 Pro. Those graphical updates should make the game look a lot smoother and crisper on the more powerful hardware.

Control: Ultimate Edition was added to the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly library back in February 2021, so there’s a good chance that you might already own the game if you were a subscriber back then.
If not, the game has also gone on sale for as low as a fiver in the past, so it can be picked up pretty cheap nowadays.
Control is set in the “Remedy Connected Universe”, an in-game shared universe that is also seen in the Alan Wake games.
The game’s plot concerns the “FBC” (Federal Bureau of Control), a government organisation dedicated to containing otherworldly entities inside a large office building. Think of it as like The X-Files meets the SCP Foundation.

Alan Wake Remastered was added to PlayStation Plus Essential in 2023, while Alan Wake 2 is available from today for the month of October.
So, if you’ve been a subscriber for long enough, you should currently have all the Remedy Connected Universe games available to play on PlayStation 5. As a fan of each of these games, I would recommend checking them out to anyone who’s the least bit curious.
