PlayStation Plus is offering a massive 98% discount; however, the promotion is very limited, and there is a major caveat.
It’s always nice when we can claim a tidy discount on subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, especially when said services often receive price hikes.
Which is why we were taken by surprise when Xbox Game Pass recently received a huge permanent price drop, albeit with one big compromise. It will be interesting to see if Sony reacts with a similar price drop in the coming months, but I won’t be holding my breath.

As brought to our attention by Reddit user kabirsingh84, PlayStation Plus Premium has received a whopping 98% price drop for a limited time.

However, the caveats are that this offer is only available for new Japanese subscribers only with no sign-in history following a new PS5 or PS5 Pro console purchase.
If you can take advantage of this offer (and there are several boxes to tick), you will get three months of PlayStation Plus Premium for just ¥100, instead of ¥4,300. This works out to be a cost of £0.46/$0.63 from £20/$27.
This massive PlayStation Plus Premium discount is valid from 24 April to 22 June 2026 as long as you meet all of the requirements listed above.
“I don’t think this deal is relevant to anyone on this sub. You need to buy a brand new PS5 and make a Japanese account to take advantage of this,” replied Aforumguy26. “Still interesting to see if they’d try doing something like this internationally in the future.”
Personally, I’d be very surprised if we were to get a PlayStation Plus discount of this magnitude in Europe and America. That being said, we do often have big PS Plus discounts throughout the year.
However, Redditor Quantumbinman explained how you might be able to take advantage of the 98% PlayStation Discount if you don’t live in Japan.
“If you get a brand new Japanese PS5 (the ones that only support Japanese locale) shipped to you, then you can just buy PSN credit from Amazon JP,” they explained.
“I got a PS Plus Premium one-year subscription for ¥6,000,” added Complete_Lurk3r. This impressive discount works out to be around £28/$38, if true.
“This is a decent deal, but remember everyone. Days of Play come around late May, early June. Taking this might prevent you from getting a PS Plus year on discount. Just a heads up,” explained PinchiChango.
Days of Play is an annual event run by Sony where deals are held across the PlayStation brand, including for PlayStation Plus subscriptions.
