PlayStation quietly rolls out new hardware you can pre-order now

They’re now sold out!

PlayStation has rolled out a gorgeous piece of new hardware that you’re able to pre-order right now. Well, at least you could.

Just over a week ago, Sony announced a gorgeous new limited edition DualSense controller inspired by Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, a must-buy item for passionate fans of the series.

The controller has an on-brand black-and-white colour scheme including icons representing the Fireflies and W.L.F., the moth from Ellie’s tattoo as well as The Last of Us logo at the back of the controller.

The controller sold for £74.99, which is £10 more than a standard DualSense as is the case of most limited edition controllers inspired by video game franchises.

The controller was available to pre-order on Friday, 14 March 2025 and to no surprise whatsoever, it was quickly out of stock, despite being available at various retailers including PlayStation Direct, Amazon, Smyths, Walmart and many more.

Unlike other limited edition DualSense controllers, namely Hogwarts Legacy, it seems that Sony has produced more quantities of The Last of Us version, judging by the number of retailers it was available at.

Sure, this might make the controller less limited edition but on the flip side, it’s a great way to hinder the plans of scalpers selling on third-party platforms for grotesque profits.

Not long after the Hogwarts Legacy DualSense controller was announced, some scalpers were attempting to sell its pre-order (not the actual controller) for up to £250.

Scalpers may have found it difficult to sell for such a price but at the time, the Hogwarts Legacy DualSense controller sold easily for around £130, making profits of about £55 (not including additional fees).

I’ve just searched eBay and at the time of writing, The Last of Us DualSense controller is currently listed at over £80, and with a bit of luck, that price will drop when the controller becomes available in hand and more sellers list items on places such as eBay.

The Last of Us DualSense controller will be released on 10 April 2025.
