A recent PlayStation job advertisement has sent gamers into a meltdown, believing that Sony will be focusing on a multiplatform future.
When it comes to console exclusives, I’m a bit old school. Coming from the days of SEGA and Nintendo being fierce rivals, first-party franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario were part of the console's identity.
Much like what God of War is to PlayStation and Halo to Xbox, when you think of those brands, you instantly think of the console it's associated with.
With the likes of Gears of War: Reloaded (and maybe Halo) coming to PlayStation, it feels to me that Microsoft is becoming increasingly less concerned about its identity.

The same, for the most part, cannot be said about Nintendo (especially) and PlayStation. It will be a cold day in hell if we ever see a Super Mario or The Legend of Zelda title be released on PlayStation or Xbox.
However, PlayStation is much more open to the prospect of releasing its games on other platforms, mostly on PC, except LEGO Horizon Adventures being released on Nintendo Switch.
That being said, the aforementioned PlayStation job advert that has sent gamers into a frenzy has led some to believe that more of Sony titles will follow in the footsteps of Helldivers 2, coming to Xbox.
As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, the job advert in question looks to have been misunderstood, and Sony seemingly has no intention of releasing the likes of God of War, The Last of Us or Gran Turismo on Xbox.

Reportedly, angry PlayStation gamers sent floods of emails to Sony expressing concern that some of the blue brand's leading properties will soon not be console exclusives.
In a surprising turn of events, one gamer got a response from Sony, albeit that response is about as generic and template as you can get.
“While we continue to explore new ways to grow and evolve the gaming ecosystem, we are committed to preserving the unique identity that PlayStation represents,” Sony replied in an email.
“As we have in the past, we will always listen to feedback from our community, including valued players like you, and ensure that our decisions are aligned with the experiences you expect from PlayStation.”

So, it looks like your favourite PlayStation properties won't be releasing on Xbox anytime soon. Instead, ports may be reserved for certain multiplayer games, such as Helldivers 2, that would benefit greatly from cross-platform support.
