A recent update on the progress of a live-action adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn shows that everything seems to be going smoothly, and it has created both excitement and debate among fans.
Horizon Zero Dawn is already a cinematic triumph, and one would argue that a film isn’t really needed, however, in the campaign to get more stories in front of more people, the film begins shooting in 2026.
The aim is to release the film in the following year, which seems like a quick turnaround for such a special effects heavy production.
Regardless, many fans are excited to see Aloy take to the big screen, and over on Reddit, conversation is bubbling away.

“Please don't screw it up... PLEASE don't screw it up,” begs one fan.
While the consensus is one of excitement, there’s a fear that it will turn out horribly, with one Redditor saying, “I hope it turns out good. But I sort of doubt it.”
There are some who have faith, and are eager to see the story play out in cinemas, like this fan who said, “Nice, can't wait for my mom to finally be able to experience the story.”
However, despite the hype that exists, the bigger topic of conversation is whether this should be a film at all, and many believe the story of Horizon Zero Dawn is too big for one film.

“Horizon’s story is, in my opinion, impossible to tell in a single movie,” says one of the top comments in the thread.
Many fans believe TV would be the better vehicle for such a story, and it would offer more insight to characters as we can spend longer with them.
Though, it’s likely this will become a trilogy of films, should the first see success, in which case those fears could be put to rest. Still, it’ll be great to see those big fights take place on a large screen.
