If you own a PlayStation 5, chances are you’re craving yet another State of Play event. With the previous two editions both largely focusing on third-party titles, we have no idea what’s coming up in Sony’s first-party slate beyond the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

It’s a very odd situation to be in. We can only presume that major reveals are on the way. Bend Studio hasn’t released a game since 2019’s Days Gone, with rumours the studio could be working on an Uncharted reboot. After all, do you remember that mysterious Uncharted-esque footage shared by Sony earlier this year? The same advert seemed to feature Ghost of Tsushima 2 footage, but Sucker Punch’s next project is also yet to be confirmed. Naughty Dog is seemingly stuck in development hell with its The Last of Us multiplayer game, and we’re completely in the dark when it comes to Guerrilla and Santa Monica.

Take a look at our preview of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.

There’s one major first party release that we’re sure is coming beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 - and that’s Marvel’s Wolverine. Between Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games will have released four AAA bangers on the PS5, while other studios are lagging behind on a tally of 1 or even 0. It’s leading many fans to say that Insomniac is carrying the console.

Twitter user TCMF2 highlighted the studio’s achievement, writing, “If Wolverine drops in 2024, Insomniac games would have dropped four new games in four years.” Fans flooded the replies with love for Insomniac. “Best studio in the world,” one wrote, while another added, “Insomniac Games [is] probably PlayStation’s best acquisition.”

“They’ve surpassed Naughty Dog, and we should talk about that,” someone said. “Feels like Insomniac are carrying PlayStation at the moment. Their games are pretty sick,” another tweet read. Keep killing it Insomniac.
