PlayStation gamers warned they've 24 hours left to enjoy 22 free games

A terrible trade

PlayStation Plus is really testing the patience of subscribers this month.

I’ll admit, I’m an optimist and even I’m struggling to find a positive in this latest trade.

In case you missed it, the extra and premium PlayStation Plus tiers will soon be gaining a total of 10 games; 10 games that weren’t particularly at the top of anybody’s to-play list.

The extra tier gains nine, with the following titles dropping tomorrow on 20 May: Sand Land, Soul Hackers 2, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted - Full Time Edition, Battlefield V, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Humankind, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, and Gloomhaven Mercenaries Edition.

The premium tier, on the other hand, will gain just one title and that is 2003’s Battle Engine Aquila.

You can see why the consensus this month is that the new offerings are pretty dire.

There are a few gems here - including the likes of Sand Land and S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Legends of the Zone Trilogy - but this line-up lacks wow factor.

The entire situation becomes much worse though when I remind you that the addition of these 10 titles comes alongside the loss of 22 others.

You can take a look at Sand Land in action below.

Yes, the extra and premium tiers are due to lose 22 games this month.

This will happen tomorrow, on 20 May, to coincide with the addition of the new titles so if there are any departing games you wish to enjoy, you have around 24 hours to do so.

Admittedly, that’s not a fat lot of time, but there are a few short titles here that can most definitely be completed within a 24-hour period, providing you’re not too busy with school or work.

The departing games are as follows: Grand Theft Auto V, MotoGP 24, The Sims 4: Island Living, Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, Walkabout Mini Golf, Synth Riders, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, Before Your Eyes, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, Stranded: Alien Dawn, The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame, Ghostrunner, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Journey to the Savage Planet, Portal Knights, Enter the Gungeon, Batman: Arkham Knight, and inFAMOUS: Second Son.

Oof, there are some real bangers there.

What confuses me most about this list is that it features some Sony first-party titles, like inFAMOUS: Second Son, for example.

There’s no reason to remove this title; it’s not as if there’s an expiring license like you get with third party games.

Regardless, if there is anything here that you wish to try and cram in, you best get on with it.
