PlayStation gamers surprised with free Silent Hill 2 download

No tricks here, only a spooky treat

Silent Hill fans are already on a high now that the Silent Hill 2 remake is here and is better than expected.

But the game being a roaring success isn’t the only treat they can savour – there's also a surprise gift from PlayStation to celebrate its release.

In our review of Silent Hill 2, we described the game as a “perfect remake of Silent Hill 2”. It’s quite a statement to make, yet it rings true from our experience of the new release.

We’re not alone in our praise of Bloober Team’s creation.

Unsurprisingly, PlayStation wants to build on the hype for this creepy adventure, and what better way to do that than with a free download.

What makes this surprise freebie so alluring, besides it delivering Silent Hill themed goodies, is the fact that all you need to do is start playing the game.

By starting a playthrough, you should earn yourself the iconic Pyramid Head in his digital collectible form.

Fans who aren’t normally supportive of PlayStation Stars can’t help but be tempted by this offer.

“This is already the best choice out of the ones they make you spend 350 points on. Glad this campaign came on,” remarked Affectionate_Bass931.

Sadly, not all who are interested in this download can claim it for some unknown reason.

One player said, “Wish that I could get this. I started the quest and played for a few hours but nothing. PS Stars doin’ PS Stars things.”

You might be able to get this freebie, or you may be one of the unfortunate few unable to claim it despite meeting the campaign’s requirements.

Hopefully, you fall into the former category.

After all, who doesn’t want a Pyramid Head to call their very own? No one, that’s who.
