PlayStation confirms the update we all wanted to hear on new Astro Bot release

Team Asobi remains in development on its next project and while there’s no word on what that project is, we’re all certainly hoping it’s a sequel to GOTY winner Astro Bot.

Let’s face it, we’re all head over heels for PlayStation’s latest mascot - and we’re all desperate to get our hands on the recently unveiled LEGO Astro Bot figure.

LEGO Astro Bot was previously unveiled as a limited availability pre-order bonus, gifted to those who purchase the upcoming LEGO PlayStation, launching on October 4.

At the time of the pre-order bonus’ unveiling, fans desperately let LEGO and PlayStation know that they’d happily pay to purchase LEGO Astro Bot as a standalone release.

Well, our wish has officially been granted because LEGO Astro Bot will be available to purchase solo at a cost of £17.99 / $24.99, as spotted by Wario64.

That’s great to hear because if you previously wished to nab it as a bonus gift, the LEGO PlayStation would have set you back £139.99 / $179.99.

The set is due to be available from PlayStation Direct with additional retailers yet to be announced - and it looks as if it’ll also launch on October 4 alongside that aforementioned PlayStation set.

The 276 piece LEGO Astro Bot set is designed for adults ages 18 and up.

“This iconic hero makes a cool gaming decoration that’s perfect for an office or game room,” reads its description.

“Complete with cape and blue propulsion jets, the Astro Bot figure comes with a stand to display the character proudly on a bookshelf or desk.

“Fully posable arms and head allow for dynamic poses, with swappable eyes to change his expressions.”

When built and with its arms out, the set stands at over eight inches high, four-and-a-half inches wide and two-and-a-half inches deep, including the stand.

What is currently hard to say is how long the figure will stick around for. When LEGO Astro Bot was merely a bonus gift, it was described as being available while stocks last.

Now that it’s being stocked as a standalone release, we’re hoping that availability is plentiful but you’re probably better off ordering this one on its October 4 launch day to air on the side of caution.

The LEGO PlayStation will become available from October 1 for LEGO Insiders so that’s technically still the quickest way to nab LEGO Astro Bot. That bundled offer expires on October 7.

Needless to say, fans are thrilled at this change in rollout, especially considering how reasonable the set is too.
