PlayStation has dropped a brand-new feature for PlayStation 5’s in the UK, including UI improvements.

As far as functionality goes the PlayStation 5 is good, but it’s not great, as there are still loads of features that competitors like Xbox have that PlayStation doesn’t.

At least the games are good though, like the new Silent Hill 2 remake which is out now, and perfect for Halloween

Rest assured though it’s getting better, especially with the addition of the latest system update that adds the Welcome Menu to your homepage.

US fans will recognise this as something already on their console, but it has now been rolled out to UK users as well.

The Welcome Menu does what it says on the tin really, it’s a menu that’ll greet you when you boot up the console and gives you quick access to various games and apps.

You can customise what games, apps and other widgets you’d like to be included, and it makes navigating menus ever-so-slightly easier.

It’s a great change for sure, and it’s nice to see more users gain access to it worldwide, though it’s still a far cry from what fans have been demanding since the PlayStation 5’s launch.

The PlayStation 5 still doesn’t have unique background themes, and while the background will change when you hover over a certain game fans want actual themes that stay put regardless of where you are on the console screen.

Whether such a change is on the cards or being considered for the PlayStation 6 remains a mystery, though it’s still a point of contempt with fans on PS5.

At least there are some changes being made to the PlayStation 5 menus though, and the Welcome Screen is a nice addition that should get you into games and apps faster than ever.
