PlayStation isn’t quite as bountiful with its free demo offerings as, say, PC storefront Steam, but there’s still plenty on offer to try with new additions being made every few days.
It’s with that in mind that I’d like to direct your attention towards the two latest offerings.
You shouldn’t turn your nose up at demos. It’s the perfect way to ‘try before you buy’, as no one likes making a costly mistake.
Beyond that though, many demos offer as much as a couple of hours of entertainment.

It can be refreshing to simply dip your toe into something rather than commit to a game fully at the expense of your backlog.
Right now, all PS5 users can check out Operation Candy Land and Mega Carrier Simulator.
Try a Relaxing Simulator or Chaotic Action Roguelike For Free on PS5
I’ll start with perhaps the more promising of the duo.
Operation Candy Land comes from developer Mad Hook and is an upcoming action roguelike that’s yet to confirm its release date.
The game is set within, you guessed it, Candy Land, where “feral gummy bears, angry lollipops, and sneaky marshmallows are everywhere”.
“Run, shoot, and build crazy towers to survive waves of candy monsters. Fast, silly, chaotic and way harder than it looks!”

Every single run in Operation Candy Land will be different with new enemies, upgrades, and bosses on offer.
“Lose, level up, and jump back in stronger this colorful world hides a serious challenge,” devs tease.
I can’t look at this game and not see Wreck-It Ralph’s Sugar Rush realm.
If you don’t fancy that sort of high-octane action, you may want to sample Mega Carrier Simulator from publisher Yash Future Tech Solutions.
I’ll admit, there’s not a ton to this one.
Players will drive heavy duty transport vehicles, hauling goods across “challenging routes”.

You’ll need to drive with precision, balance your heavy loads, and “conquer realistic terrains while upgrading your fleet to become the ultimate mega carrier”.
Within the demo, you can sample two of the game's 12 environments. The full game is out now if you do want to continue your efforts.
These are just the most recent additions, but you want to sample a couple of the PlayStation Store’s most popular demos.
Reanimal, Darwin’s Paradox, Nioh 3, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Planet of Lana II, and Mina the Hollower are amongst the most downloaded options at the time of writing.
I can vouch for Reanimal and Planet of Lana II; they’re both excellent demos that’ll certainly leave you wanting to dive into the full game experience.
