With the weekend just around the corner, PlayStation 5 users are in luck as Sony will soon add an epic remaster to its library and better yet, it is completely free. No catch.

Classed as an underrated gem since its original release back in 2019, this action-adventure title by Frogwares has officially received an Unreal Engine 5 makeover and will be making the leap over to the PlayStation 5.

In other PlayStation news, check out the PlayStation Concert below!

First released on the PlayStation 4 and inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, The Sinking City is a 2019 action-adventure game set in a horror-inspired open-world.

Set in the 1920s on the East Coast of the United States, players will find themselves in the half-submerged city of Oakmont which is plagued with supernatural forces.

You will take on the role of a private investigator who must uncover the truth about what happened in the city and what has corrupted the minds of its inhabitants.

Now remastered using Unreal Engine 5, The Sinking City has never looked better and better yet, there is a bonus for those who already own the game on PS4.

The Sinking City remaster will be free to those who already own the game, as well as for owners on PC and the Xbox Series X/S.

A release date for the remaster has not yet been announced but players can expect the following features:

  • Game fully relit in Unreal Engine 5
  • Enhanced locations with additional levels of detail and objects
  • 4K textures and improved reflections
  • Addition of a Photo Mode
  • Support for DLSS, FSR, and TSR upscaling

It definitely feels as though this is the perfect time for a The Sinking City remaster, considering The Sinking City 2 is expected to be released later this year.

This time, players will find themselves experiencing a heart-pounding survival horror set in the flooded city of Arkham where eldritch monsters lurk in every corner.
