The days of the PS2 aren’t dead after all!
It’s been years since the PlayStation 2 was in its heyday, and while we all believe it to be one of the greats, accessing its classic games without an actual PS2 to hand hasn’t been easy.
But all that looks set to change.

Sony has been slowly introducing old-school PS1 titles to its PS Plus Premium tier, like Nintendo introducing the N64 and Gameboy Advance adventures from our childhoods.
It’s been wonderful to see. However, there’s been a distinct lack of PS2 content.
Speaking of Star Wars, how we feeling about Star Wars Outlaws? Check out its trailer below
Yet, a listing on the PS Store for Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been spotted by Gematsu. According to Gematsu, the “first new PlayStation 2 emulated title” will be coming to both the PS4 and PS5.

Furthermore, it’s coming sooner than we think; 11 June.
Gemastu linked to the PS page in its article, however, that link doesn’t work anymore. If anything, its removal lends more credence to this being genuine.
Although we can’t see it for ourselves now, the description purportedly read, “Experience Star Wars: The Clone Wars originally released on the PlayStation 2 console, enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters.”
We anticipate PlayStation will outsell Xbox in even greater numbers if this PS2 emulator rumour is true; in the last few months, the PS5 has sold 5 times more than the Xbox Series X/S.

Considering all the recent Microsoft chaos and Bethesda layoffs, maybe that isn’t all too surprising...
Hopefully, with PS2 titles being teased for the not-too-distant future, we’ll start to see more beloved classics return to us.
Now we wait for the 11 June with bated breath and our fingers crossed. If the Force rewards us, we have a whole plethora of experiences about to open up to us.
