The next big free-to-play game is getting a free taster session ahead of its full release in 2026, as long as you’re a PlayStation 5 owner, of course.
Gacha games are sort of like the Marmite of video games. You either love them or hate them, and if you love them, you’ll have to enter your credit card details several times to purchase further, premium versions of Marmite if you want to get the most out of your Marmite-based experience.
Alright, the analogy sort of fell off at the end there, but my point is that people who love gacha games are all-in on the genre, which is probably why more and more of them are popping up with each passing year (and also why two gacha games have won the Players’ Voice award at the Game Awards).
If that sounds like you, then you’re probably already looking forward to getting your hands on Neverness to Everness, the slice-of-life style gacha game from developer and publisher Hotta Games.
Advert

This one has been relatively hyped up by the gacha community, for reasons that I personally don’t quite understand.
Then again, I managed to stomach Genshin Impact for a grand total of 30 minutes, so perhaps I’m not exactly the target audience.
If you’re keen to get your hands on it ASAP, then you better hope you’re a PlayStation 5 owner.
As revealed on the official Neverness to Everness website (thank you in advance to PushSquare for the source), you can now apply to take part in the game’s next beta.
Oddly enough, I can’t seem to find any details about when the beta will be taking place, but it does seem that applications to join the beta end around January 23. As a result, I’m going to take an educated guess that the beta will probably begin sometime in late January.
It seems spots for the beta are limited however, so you may want to head over to the site and sign up immediately (in case they run out of spots prior to the application window closing).
The game will be free-to-play following its full release though, so you’re not going to miss out on your opportunity to play it for free if you don’t get selected. It just means that you’ll have to wait a little longer to get your hands on it, which I’m sure would be an agonising wait for fans of the genre.
