Every year, studios hope to end up amongst the list of nominees for the coveted Game of the Year award.
Occasionally, there’s a clear winner and in other instances, it’s a much tighter race.
In 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder all vied for the top spot - and every single one of those nominees would have been a worthy winner.
Baldur’s Gate 3 eventually nabbed the accolade, and it was a well deserved win.

Personally though, I had the most fun playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it’s all just down to personal preference.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 expanded upon everything that made the first game so brilliant.
It extended the game’s map, adding new traversal techniques and, of course, the ability to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
I thought the story was top notch with plenty of twists and turns, and the gameplay loop that Insomniac Games has built just never gets old to me.

It’s easy to see why the game secured a Metacritic score of 90.
If you’re yet to give it a whirl, you can do so for free but only with a valid PlayStation Plus premium subscription.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the premium tier’s Game Trials, which means you can sample two-hours of the full game.
There’s no limitations on how far you can progress within those two hours and should you choose to purchase the full thing, progress should carry over.

It’s perhaps also worth pointing out that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently on offer.
The PlayStation Store has 38% off the title, in the UK at least, bringing it down from £69.99 to £43.39 - and I think that’s well worth paying for this experience.
My question now is: what’s next?
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s side quests set up several DLCs that never manifested, nor did that Venom spin-off game.

Could we see either project soon? Or will Insomniac skip straight into a third and final entry?
Let’s hope answers aren’t too far away.
