Horizon Zero Dawn fans wowed by new sequel tease

A glimpse at what's to come

Horizon Forbidden West is easily one of the most beautiful and visually impressive games out there, as is the title’s Burning Shores DLC.

It’s because of this that I’ve been praising Guerrilla’s Decima engine for years, and while I’m certainly not unique in doing that, it does now feel like more people are catching on.

The upcoming Death Stranding 2: On The Beach recently unveiled its release date, dropping new gameplay footage alongside this.

What you may not be aware of is the fact that the Kojima Productions sequel is actually using Guerrilla’s engine.

Yes, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is once again being made in Decima, just as the previous title was.

But what does this have to do with a Horizon Forbidden West sequel?

Well, that game will also be made using Decima, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is providing the most up to date look at what the engine is capable of.

The last title released that was created using Decima was the aforementioned Burning Shores DLC in 2023, so Guerrilla has had two years to refine and advance the engine with Death Stranding 2 evidencing the end result.

You can take a look at the new trailer for the game below.

With that in mind, the upcoming third and final horizon should share Death Stranding 2: On The Beach’s level of graphic fidelity - something which is garnering praise across social media.

“I hate Unreal Engine 5 more than most, with good reason. To me it's VRAM management and Nanite are the only redeeming qualities in current versions. Decima with DS2 manages to get great geometry here without having to use UE5 and Nanite, and I hope we see more of this,” wrote Twitter user mpr_reviews.

“Decima engine is not f**king around bro,” added medster101.

Studderz_Savage tweeted, “The Decima engine needs to be the standard instead of that s**t UE5.”

I’ve been itching for Guerrilla to unveil its new Horizon entry for some time, but Death Stranding 2’s graphics have only left me more hyped.

Of course, so too have they got me counting down to DS2’s release date. Decima is the engine to beat, it seems.
