Halo PlayStation release teased by former Xbox boss

The future of Halo is still undecided as more hints of a PlayStation title emerge

We’re once again left wondering a future where Master Chief comes to PlayStation. It may seem like an unlikely future to some Xbox owners, but the fact of the matter is yet more “evidence” has been unearthed that hints that the memorable character is potentially hopping consoles.

Earlier in the year, a new Halo coming to PlayStation 5 was hinted at via a new job listing, and gamers collectively lost their minds as they started to question the validity of the possibility. Then the trail seemingly went cold, and little more about the matter came to light.

Fans, instead, turned attention to the news that Xbox had ended support for The Master Chief Collection; it was a deep dive by a YouTuber, however, many felt the theory held water.

Fast forward to present day and we’re back to Master Chief taking up residency over at Sony. More surprisingly, it’s former Xbox boss, Peter Moore, who’s revealed this potential future. During an interview with IGN, Moore speculated that Xbox is likely having conversations about a PS port for Halo. However, he hastened to add that he didn’t know anything for certain; this was based on his previous experiences, and as a gaming industry veteran.

Given the fact that Microsoft is embracing a third-party future, despite all the backlash such news caused, Halo finding a secondary home at Sony doesn’t seem like it’s out of the realms of possibility. Still, Xbox isn’t exactly rushing to give up its more lucrative exclusives – as shown by Starfield’s PS5 future – so it’s likely if such a decision is made, it won’t be any time soon.

Sadly, as with all news like this, we have to proceed with caution and take it with a pinch of salt, lest we end up disappointed over details later proven to be naught but fiction.
