After a God of War TV adaptation was announced by Amazon, talk has already turned to who should play the lead role of Kratos. Luckily, the perfect person is already eager to portray the Spartan warrior himself.

Last May saw Sony’s latest earnings presentation reveal the upcoming adaptations of two of its IPs: God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. The news, courtesy of analyst David Gibson, revealed that the Horizon adaptation would be making its way to Netflix whereas God of War was set to be picked up by Amazon. Unfortunately, we have yet to receive a date for the show, but we do know one actor that would happily take on the role of Kratos – Kratos himself.

Since God of War was first released in 2005, Kratos has become one of the most recognisable video game figures. Originally played by Terrence C. Carson from 2005 to 2013, the role was taken over by Christopher Judge in the 2018 remake. Since then, Judge has gone on to play Kratos in God of War as well as its sequel God of War Ragnarök. Taking on the role of Kratos must be enjoyable for the actor as he has since gone on to say he would also play him in the live-action adaptation.

This news comes after Judge retweeted a fan who said the actor himself should take on the role as opposed to hiring a WWE fighter. “Why is everyone saying that Triple H or Braun Strowman are two of the 'perfect' choices for Kratos in a live action project when @iamchrisjudge is LITERALLY THE F**KING GOD OF WAR?!” they wrote to which Judge replied, “co-sign”.

Video game adaptations such as the recent HBO’s The Last of Us has recast its main characters which paid off despite initial backlash. However, casting the original voice actors may not be such a bad idea. I would definitely like to see Judge reprise his role as Kratos. Hopefully, we will see it sooner rather than later.
