God of War fans are hyped over the prospect of a new Mayan setting and we’re all for it too.

The God of War series instantly became one of Sony’s flagship brands the moment it launched on the PlayStation 2 in 2005. Speaking of which, the Santa Monica Studios series has recently celebrated 20 years of Kratos by giving away free DLC for God of War Ragnarök.

Check out the 20 years of God of War tribute below!

When the God of War series began, Kratos pretty much killed all the Greek gods, including his father, Zeus in an act of vengeance following the death of his family. Kratos then moved to Scandinavia to live a quiet life, fell in love again and had a son, Atreus.

However, that quiet life never turned out as Kratos planned and before he knew it, he was at war once more, this time with the Norse gods such as Odin, Thor, Baldur and more.

Without giving too much away, following the events of the most recent game, God of War Ragnarök and its free DLC, ‘Valhalla’, the door has been seemingly left ajar for more adventures with Kratos and Atreus.

I would assume that the next game will again be set in Scandinavia but there are rumours of a new remastered collection arriving first. That being said, after that, where does Kratos go next?

“Imagine a God of War game set in Mayan mythology,” asked Redditor Clear-Leave-8034.

“I have. I’d take that over Egypt or any other pantheon,” replied Town5Thousand.

“YES! That and Shinto mythology would be dope spots to explore,” yelled an enthusiastic smolgopnik420.

“I’ve been saying this. I think it’d be great if Atreus, or even Kratos and Fraya, get lost and land in Mesoamerica or Northeastern America/Canada,” said another Reddit user.

“Mayan would be extremely brutal, so hell yeah, Kratos taking on Yokai would also be pretty lit,” responded Rude-Luck1636.

We’ll just have to wait and see what Sony and Santa Monica Studios announce next regarding the future of the God of War series and where it will take us.
