Despite the God of War franchise celebrating its 20th anniversary earlier this year, there is still no sign of a remaster of the original trilogy and fans have been left feeling disappointed.
With many fans discovering the God of War franchise with the 2018 reboot, it is hard to believe that the action-adventure series following Spartan warrior Kratos actually dates back to the early 2000s.

Consisting of a trilogy that takes place in Ancient Greece, this was many fan’s introduction to Kratos which is why it is not surprising that those same people are calling out for an official remaster from Santa Monica Studio.

With the original God of War celebrating its 20th anniversary earlier this year, this would have been the perfect time to announce such a remaster.
However, the day came and went with no news of it with Santa Monica revealing that there were “no planned announcements” for a remaster ahead of the anniversary event.
Additionally, recent rumours suggest that the developers are instead working on a “new side-story project” for the God of War franchise and it will arrive later this year.
Nevertheless, fans are still eager for a remaster of the original trilogy and have taken to social media to share their frustrations.

After all, it has been two decades and many games get remasters in half that time.
“We need God of War Greek Saga remastered or remake,” Twitter user FinalCloud said in response to a recent panel talking about all things God of War.
Another user agreed, adding, “Please consider remastering the old games.”
With the majority of the comments in response to the panel consisting of hardcore fans calling for a remaster, it would definitely make sense for Santa Monica to give them what they want.

However, with its attention seemingly on the God of War reboot series, it may still be a few years until we can relive Kratos’ journey across Ancient Greece.
