PlayStation 4 players have one final chance to play this open-world RPG before it gets taken offline forever.

Last year, miHoYo announced that it would be taking the PS4 version of Genshin Impact offline in 2026 due to hardware limitations and application size.

The game will continue on current-gen systems like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as mobile and PC, but players on the PS4 version will have to switch to a new platform that remains supported.

The shutdown date for Genshin Impact’s PS4 version is 8 April, 2026, giving you just over one more week to continue playing on the last-gen platform.

“Thank you for your continued support and love for Genshin Impact on PS4!” the announcement from August 2025 read.

“Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4 in future versions.”

The PS4 version was then delisted and removed from the PlayStation Store on 10 September 2025, with in-game store purchases being disabled from 25 February 2026.

The final shutdown date is listed as 8 April, at which point no more updates will be released for the game on PlayStation 4, and players will no longer be able to login and play.

Your Genshin Impact Data And Progression Should Still Be Safe To Pick Up Elsewhere

For those who wish to continue playing Genshin Impact, progression is tied to each individual account and can therefore be picked up again when switching to a new platform.

So, simply loading the game up on mobile, PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S should be enough to continue where you left off. This should be the case even if you wait until after the shutdown to start playing again.

As one of the biggest gacha games around, it’s surely a huge blow to the PS4 fanbase that has steadily played the title since it was released in 2020.

While Genshin Impact is most popular on PC and mobile, the console community has remained strong ever since, allowing miHoYo to expand the game to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Meanwhile, miHoYo has a few other gacha RPGs available to play on PlayStation 5, including Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail. It will also be releasing Varsapura at some point in the near future.
