The upcoming Elden Ring-inspired free RPG, Ballad of Antara may have been cancelled, according to a new report.

Announced back in 2024, Ballad of Antara is a game inspired by the souls games such as Elden Ring and Bloodborne, that is also free-to-play.

However, the game went radio silent after 2024, and nothing else has come out about the game since then. Its YouTube channel hasn’t even received any updates since September of that year.

It even had an announced release window of 2025, which has now passed. Despite this, the 2025 date still appears on the store page on the PlayStation Store, with no replacement date in sight.

New rumours have suggested that Ballad of Antara may have been cancelled, following new comments from a concept artist allegedly linked to the project.

As shared on Reddit from a source on X (formerly Twitter), a concept artist by the name of yuehai2000 posted a few images this week of character designs that they allegedly completed for Ballad of Antara.

When asked for any potential updates on the project, yuehai2000 apparently stated that the game had been cancelled.

This is seemingly contrary to official sources such as the official store page on the PlayStation Store, or from the publisher, Infold PTE itself, which has not announced any cancellation, sparking rumours that a cancellation announcement could be imminent.

Ballad Of Antara Was Supposed To Be Released In 2025

“Soulslikes sell very well these days, so if it's really cancelled, most likely not related to low sale predictions. Has to be a deeper problem,” reads one comment on the Reddit post discussing these rumours.

“Seemed to me like the game was quite deep into development. Games get cancelled this late?” reads another comment.

“Shame, I thought the game looked cool. But the game silently missed the release date without any update. So that might sadly be true,” reads a third comment on the same Reddit thread.

In any case, we’ll have to wait and see if an official announcement on the project’s status is revealed in the near future before jumping to conclusions.

“Explore vast lands and reunite a sundered world in this fantasy action-RPG,” reads the official description for Ballad of Antara.

“In a distant land, a mist-like plague devastates the common world with unknown malice. Begin a perilous journey, seek towering, divine creatures, and retrieve those twisted and lost 'essences' of the land.”
