Ghost of Yōtei and Elden Ring fans will want to keep tabs on this upcoming PlayStation 5 freebie.
One of my favourite games to be released this year is Ghost of Yōtei, a follow-up to Sucker Punch Productions’ brilliant Ghost of Tsushima. Set 300 years after Jin Sakai’s story, Ghost of Yōtei stars a vengeful ronin named Atsu, hellbent on revenge against those who slaughtered her family.
I wouldn't say that neither Ghost of Tsushima nor Ghost of Yōtei is the hardest game in the world on the default difficulty setting, far from it. But they do have their moments, such as the challenging boss fight, Takezo the Unrivalled.
Even on the default setting, Takezo the Unrivalled can be a pain in the backside, so I can only imagine how tough he’ll be on the hardest setting. I’m sure that’s one for fans of FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring to try out.

Speaking of FromSoftware, in 2017, we were treated to the Soulslike, Nioh, developed by Team Ninja and published by Tecmo Koei. Nioh was a game for fans of Dark Souls, but with a mythical Japanese twist, long before the arrival of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Nioh 3 Is On The Way, and It’s Getting a Free Demo!
Nioh would then get a sequel in 2020, improving on its predecessor in almost every way. What’s more, just this year, a third entry in the series was announced to complete its trilogy (assuming we don't get a Nioh 4, of course).
“In the latest game in the dark samurai action RPG series 'Nioh,' you will need to use both Samurai and Ninja combat styles in your battles against formidable yokai as you explore a thrilling open field,” reads the synopsis of Nioh 3.
With each Nioh release that came before, Tecmo Koei has provided a pre-launch demo that not only gives us an early taste of the game, but our save progress will carry over into the full game. So I guess it’s more like a free prologue rather than a demo, and Nioh 3 is no exception.
The free demo was announced at last night’s The Game Awards event, and it will be coming to PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 5. Just like the previous two games, Nioh 3 will not be coming to Xbox, sadly.
The upcoming demo will not only be playable on your lonesome, but you can also bring a friend for some brutal co-op action. However, it should be stated that Nioh 3 is not cross-play enabled, which is a shame.
The Nioh 3 demo will arrive on 29 January, and the full game will be released on 6 February 2026.
