Ghost of Yōtei and Assassin’s Creed fans will want to check out this new open-world game that’s coming to PlayStation 5 soon.

The Assassin’s Creed series has been one of Ubisoft’s most popular properties since its inception in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Since that time, it’s spawned countless sequels, spin-offs, merchandise and a movie.

Assassin’s Creed is even getting a live-action series on Netflix. Hopefully, that new series will knock it out of the park, because it’s something that many fans have wanted for years.

The most recent game in the series is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, that released earlier this year set in feudal Japan, starring two protagonists, Noe and Yasuke.

If Assassin’s Creed Shadows wasn't enough feudal Japan goodness for you in 2025, then Ghost of Yoeti from Sucker Punch Productions might be enough to wet your appetite, released in October this year.

“Ghost of Yōtei is pure cinematic brilliance, and Sucker Punch Productions deserves to be commended once more for knocking it out of the park and, in some ways, topping its predecessor,” I said in my review. “Ghost of Yōtei is one of the absolute best games of 2025.”

Don’t skip this new action RPG

However, if you’re done with Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ghost of Yōtei, then there’s yet another historic Asian game to look forward to, and that’s Where Winds Meet, developed by Everstone Studios and published by NetEase.

“Where Winds Meet is an epic Wuxia open-world action-adventure RPG set in ancient China in the tenth century,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Players will assume the role of a young sword master as they embark on a journey to uncover the mysteries of their own identity. Let the wind carry your legend on an epic journey to the East!”

Unlike Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Ghost of Yōtei, Where Winds Meet is a free-to-play game that can not only be played solo but also with other co-players.

Tweeted on the official Where Winds Meet Twitter page, pre-loads for the game will begin on the PlayStation Store from 12 November 2025. However, those who pre-order the £14.99 DLC bundle will have access to the game 48 hours in advance.

Being a free-to-play game, if you feared that it would implement pay-to-win mechanics, then worry not. All in-game purchases will be cosmetic only, according to the developer.

Where Winds Meet will be released on 14 November 2025 on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, as well as compatible Android and iOS mobile devices.
