As Valve remains tight-lipped on the Steam Machine’s price and release date, some new information may shed some light on what the alleged price is expected to be.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that YouTube channel Techy Talk accidentally broke the review embargo for the Steam Controller, releasing its full review earlier than intended.
Although the review was quickly taken down, quick users were able to snipe a screenshot and later the entire video. The review includes a lot of information about the controller, but doesn’t feature a release date.
It’s possible a release date isn’t mentioned because Valve itself hasn’t been able to confirm one yet.

Many users assume that Valve plans to release the Steam Controller alongside the Steam Frame and Steam Machine. But with the ongoing RAM and other hardware shortages affecting the latter two, it’s difficult to predict when that’ll be.
On the other hand, what Techy Talk was able to confirm was the price of the Steam Controller, which may shed some light on the eventual price of the Steam Machine bundle.
At 3:37 in the video (mirrored here), Techy Talk claims that the price of the controller is $99.99 in the United States, which would probably put it around £74.99 in the United Kingdom.
With the controller being a little on the expensive side, this does call into doubt whether the other hardware Valve is planning will also err on the cheaper side.
Many assumed that, like Sony and Microsoft, Valve would sell the console at a loss in order to generate more revenue from the 30% cut it takes off the Steam store.
But considering this, plus earlier confirmation that Valve said the Steam Machine would be priced “like a PC”, it’s possible that we’re looking at a controller and console bundle around or over $1,000.
Some users on Reddit seem to agree as well, with many scared for what the final price of the Steam Machine will be.
“I was expecting $100 at the high end, was hoping for $80 though,” reads one comment. “With the controller being on the high end, this makes me think the Steam Machine will be closer to $999. I'm in love with the idea of the Steam Machine, but $1000 for it is a lot to ask from a consumer, even an enthusiast.”
“I thought it'd be $70-80 but $100 isn't a dealbreaker for me for everything this controller has. After using the Steam Deck so long, the track pads will be a nice addition to have on a normal controller that integrates into Steam Input natively. It has a bunch of premium features and is still cheaper than, say, an Xbox Series Elite controller,” reads another comment.
“$100 for the Steam Controller is what I expected, just like I expect Steam Machine to cost $800 at minimum,” a third comment reads.
All signs point towards the Steam Controller being ready for release, and it should at least mean Valve is edging closer to a bigger reveal of the upcoming hardware it has planned for 2026.
