Steam drops free game you have until the end of day to grab

Coagulations Steam users, this game is being cell-ed for free so there's no reason to b-negative!

Another day, another dollar - unless of course you like getting games for the low, low cost of absolutely free.

That's right folks, it's time for everyone's favourite type of sale. Steam and developer Explosive Squat Games are graciously giving away a free game for PC players, and fans of top-down stealth games will undoubtedly be extra happy to hear about the game on offer.

Intravenous, published by HypeTrain Digital back in 2021, is currently free for all Steam users to claim. If you're interested you may want to act fast though, as the game is only free until the end of today. Let's have a moment of silence for those unlucky enough to read this article tomorrow morning.

Intravenous' gameplay is definitely influenced by the likes of Hotline Miami, but there's also a lot of clear inspiration taken from the earlier Metal Gear titles in its stealth mechanics.

Players take on the role of Steve Robbins, "a man set out for revenge after losing his brother to low-life junkies" who plans to exact said revenge by wiping out every drug dealer in a ten mile radius.

In comparison to a game like Hotline Miami, the plot doesn't exactly seem important or particularly well thought out here. It's merely an easy excuse for players to justify murdering hundreds of people across the course of their playthrough. Of course it is free so, why take anyone else's word for it when you can experience it yourself without charge?

According to Steam reviews, Intravenous' playtime clocks in at roughly two hours - so maybe don't go in expecting a lengthy game. The reviews on Steam are almost unanimously positive however, earning itself a "Very Positive" score even before the game was 100% off.

As for why the game is free, it might have something to do with the fact that Intravenous 2 is launching next month on the 15th of August. The sequel looks very faithful in the sense that it would probably be somewhat difficult to tell the two games apart based on gameplay alone, so at least you know you'll definitely enjoy it if the first Intravenous is to your liking.
