You can download a fan-made Star Wars Battlefront III “alpha” mod that isn't quite an official Battlefront III, but it’s close enough.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the last week or so, there’s a good chance that you know that 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II has had somewhat of a revival with fans calling on EA and DICE to develop Battlefront III.
Not only has Star Wars Battlefront II seen a big surge in concurrent players on the PC platform Steam, but it’s also been trending on PlayStation and Xbox, which is great to see.

So, while we wait to see whether or not we’ll get an official release for Star Wars Battlefront III, fans of the series have taken matters into their own hands to create a mod that’s pretty much the next best thing at this point.
The mod in question is called ‘Battlefront III Alpha’ and it’s created by a team collectively known as ‘Battlefront III Team’ and it’s available to download for free via NexusMods.
While this obviously isn't an official Star Wars Battlefront III release, otherwise, EA and DICE would have made an announcement long before now, this instead is a mod to the 2017 game.
The mod adds 22 new lightsaber-wielding heroes and villains (11 each) to Star Wars Battlefront II from canon and legends characters that were never originally in the game, each with new abilities.

Great examples of new characters that are included in this mod are the popular Sith Lord Darth Revan, from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, as well as Baylan Skoll, played by the late Ray Stevenson.
In the mod description, it has warned those who download this content that they may encounter some bugs but this is an alpha after all. Nonetheless, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
As is the nature of most mods, this is a PC exclusive. For the rest of us, we can play Star Wars Battlefront II as intended on PlayStation and Xbox.
