Despite being well over a decade old, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim still looks pretty good when it comes to its graphics.
However, with graphics and performance having come a long way since ten-years ago, and with Bethesda just releasing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, fans are starting to see what Skyrim could look like with a graphical update.
Compare Eldergleam to the official trailer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim below!
That being said, with Bethesda now turning its attention to The Elder Scrolls VI (we hope), it has been left to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s dedicated fan base to help the RPG show off its full potential.

“Just installed Eldergleam after playing Oblivion Remastered,” one user recently shared over on r/skyrim.
“Holy crap, I didn’t realise Skyrim could look this good. This is unbelievable.”
The post was accompanied by various screenshots taken from the game and how they look courtesy of the Eldergleam mod and it is safe to say that graphics have been dramatically improved.
Eldergleam is a free-to-download mod for Skyrim which was curated by Capt Panda over on Nexus Mods.

It features a free mod-list which has everything you need to boost Skyrim’s performance and graphics, all in one place.
“ Eldergleam is a Skyrim Modlist that focuses on replacing Skyrim’s vanilla visuals with 2k-4k photorealistic textures,” the description reads.
“Most of the textures are parallaxed, having that 3D look. Additionally, the animations have also been completely replaced, making the game feel more fluid and up to date to today’s standards.”
Despite the mod being almost two-years old, it is still considered as one of the best graphical improvements for Skyrim and fans took to the comments of the Reddit post to share their thoughts.

“I can hear my PC smoking already,” user DoughNotDoit joked.
User Saykee added, “Literally installed Eldergleam when Oblivion Remastered dropped.
I have too many games in my backlog to justify giving Todd Howard another 50 euro.
Plus I have only ever played Skyrim like once fully so this is a breath of fresh air.”
