Skyrim is a game that seemingly will never die and this remaster might result in us being further immersed in the world of Tamriel for all eternity.

Originally released in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is widely considered to be one of the best RPGs of all time. It’s one of the main reasons why it’s been ported in every console generation since its launch 13 years ago.

Skyrim was always going to have big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of Morrowind and Oblivion, but it’s fair to say that Bethesda knocked it out of the park with this entry in the series. Its popularity, which will likely live forever, is a testament to how beloved this RPG is within its community.

Other than being a fantastic game in its own right, the ever-vibrant modding community continues to breathe new life into Skyrim, whether it's new missions, bug fixes, gameplay improvements or visual overhauls.

Thanks to websites such as Nexus Mods, we have access to thousands of free mods in an instant and with the correct ones applied, you can make a game as old as Skyrim look like a brand-new remaster for 2024.

“Reject modernity. Mod Skyrim into next-gen forever,” said Redditor surveillance_raven to fellow members on the thread, showing off some gorgeous screenshots of Skyrim benefiting from mods.

“Damn, love the lighting!” replied MaxDragonMan with darkmoose adding, “Modding is the game.”

“At this point, The Elder Scrolls VI won’t even look as good as a modded Skyrim,” Similar-Cake-8829 claimed.

While mods are available for Skyrim via Bethesda’s Creation Club on modern consoles, mods of this nature are only compatible with the PC version of the game, sadly.

That being said, we can still all enjoy The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on just about every platform imaginable as Bethesda intended. Skyrim is also included with a subscription to Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost.
