Red Dead Redemption 2 Undead States available just in time for Halloween

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Undead States mod is available just in time for Halloween.

If you have ever wondered what the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 would look like during a zombie apocalypse, then wonder no more as modders have come together to make the game perfect for Halloween.

Despite not usually being included in the horror genre (although it should for the pain it causes), Red Dead Redemption 2 has had a Halloween makeover thanks to modders over on Nexus Mods. Gone is the peaceful town of Valentine and the state of New Austin as it has now been overrun with undead and roaring infernos.

Check out some wins & fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below!

The first mod titled Undead Nightmare II by RichardHertz is responsible for bringing the dead to New Austin. “A plague has struck New Austin, causing the dead to rise from their graves and wreak havoc among the already savaged lands”, the description reads. “Some have lost hope, worrying that the spread is too quick to stop; while others will not go down without a fight.” The mod sees you play as Undead John Marston “complete with RDR1 accurate animations, textures, and undead sound effects”. Not only that but the undead will spread from towns to the wilderness and even stranger things will happen during the blood moon.

For an even more unsettling atmosphere, you can pair Undead Nightmare II with the mod Undead States which “turns all the states undead with fire and more!” Think of the opening scenes of The Last of Us with flames engulfing the city and the undead running around and you will have this mod. Images from it show towns like Blackwater, Annesburg, Valentine and Saint Denis filled with fire and smoke with wagons set alight and horses fleeing for safety.

These will be the perfect additions to your Red Dead Redemption 2 save this Halloween. Who wouldn’t want to add to the chaos of the game with some zombies and burning buildings?
