Are you a PC player? Do you like survival horrors? How about free games, do you love those? If you answered yes to all three of those questions, then I have an article for you.

Occasionally, GOG.com, the PC games retailer headed up by CD Projekt Red, the makers of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher, will give away a free game. At the moment, there’s a cracking horror game that could be yours. All you need is a GOG account.

CD Projekt Red don't just create great games like Cyberpunk 2077, but also run GOG.

The Beast Inside is a gripping thriller and survival horror that will “immerse you in the tale of long-buried secrets, personal tragedies, and madness.” Using a unique narrative mechanic of following two characters within separate centuries, players will “take their faiths in your hands and unveil how their stories interfere”.

From what you can see on the game’s GOG page, there are some great action-packed moments mixed in with some scary sections that will have those faint of heart hiding behind their hands. It looks deliciously brooding and dark, with some amazing creature designs for the monsters we get a glimpse of.

Let’s take a peek at the story as told by the developers: “Boston, 1979, Adam, the CIA cryptanalyst, leaves the city and moves to the countryside with his wife, Emma. His handlers are afraid they won’t be able to keep him safe there, but Adam believes he needs a peaceful place in the woodland, to take a shot at the military code.” We all know that living in the woods is a guaranteed way to find yourself in a horror narrative, so that’s a rookie mistake. What transpires next looks pretty spooky from the trailer.

If you’re a fan of horror games, this isn’t one to miss and if you’re getting it for free, there are no complaints.
