Minecraft New Free Download Is The Closest Thing We’re Getting To A Sequel

This free Minecraft download might just be the closest we’ll ever get to a sequel, but we’re not complaining, because it looks amazing.

Originally released in 2009 as a public alpha test on PC, few could have likely predicted the goliath that Minecraft would become today. Even if someone isn't a gamer, there’s a good chance that they would know the name Minecraft.

Today, Minecraft has spawned countless toys, clothes, board games, animated TV series, as well as a Hollywood movie, and much more. That being said, when it comes to the world of Minecraft, it doesn't get better than the video game that started it all.

Since its original release in 2009, while the core gameplay has pretty much remained the same, improvements to its visuals and performance, as well as new modes, have been deployed by its developers.

However, when it comes to playing Minecraft on PC, the talented modding community can help to take the ever-popular survival crafting game to the next level in more ways than one.

One such mod, as brought to our attention by PCGamesN, is the free download called ‘RealismCraft 2.0’, and as its name suggests, it improves the visuals of Minecraft, albeit not realistically, but improved nonetheless.

As the site points out, this almost looks like a full-blown sequel.

That being said, ‘RealismCraft 2.0’ retains the original Minecraft look but with new textures, dynamic lighting and a more detailed skybox, this 16-year-old game has arguably never looked better.

What’s more, ‘RealismCraft 2.0’ improves the biomes to make the world of Minecraft feel even more dense, as well as adding new animations, enemies, bosses, weapons, armour and much more.

PCGamesN mentions that despite the ‘RealismCraft’ mod being available before now, this ‘2.0’ version dropped this week, adding all the aforementioned additional content.

Sadly, as is the case with most mods, ‘RealismCraft 2.0’ is only available for the PC version of the game. For the rest of us, we can enjoy Minecraft as intended on just about every platform imaginable.
