Ever since its inception in 2007, the Mass Effect series from BioWare has been one of the best sci-fi RPGs of its genre but after all these years, fans might be on the lookout for a new way to experience this beloved franchise.

The Mass Effect series, which perhaps began life as somewhat of a spiritual successor to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic had soon become an iconic property in its own right following its debut on the Xbox 360.

Mass Effect would spawn two more numbered sequels, each arguably more critically acclaimed than the last. We then had Mass Effect Andromeda in 2017, which had a rough start to begin with, mainly due to it having tons of bugs at launch, but thankfully, it is a much better game now.

Yet, when a fifth game in the series was announced during The Game Awards in 2020, teasing the return of the Normandy crew with Liara T’Soni starring in the trailer, it sent fans' excitement for the next entry into the stratosphere

Unfortunately, since that time, we’ve not heard much else about the unofficially named Mass Effect 5 with some fans concerned that it might not be released until when the next-generation consoles arrive in maybe, two or three years.

So, if you’re after some Mass Effect goodness, but with a twist, Mass Effect: A New Destiny might just be your intergalactic cup of tea and it’s going to be free to download via moddb.com.

Mass Effect: A New Destiny is a total conversion mod for the PC grand strategy game from Paradox Interactive, namely, Stellaris and is currently still in development by kroganjedi1.

“Mass Effect: A New Destiny, the upcoming total conversion for Stellaris focused on choice and consequences. Live out the story of the trilogy or create unique scenarios that change the fate of the galaxy forever,” reads the description of the mod.

At the time of writing, Mass Effect: A New Destiny does not have a release date but with it being in development for a year or two already, hopefully, its release isn't too much of a galaxy, far, far away.
