Hogwarts Legacy map expansion quietly adds 5 new locations for you to explore

If you’re on the lookout for new Hogwarts Legacy content then this free DLC is for you, adding five new locations and more.

Initially released in 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S before arriving on other platforms, Hogwarts Legacy is without a doubt the dream game for fans of Harry Potter.

Set during the 1890s, you play as a mysterious student who enrols at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the fifth academic year, to the surprise of tutors and students alike.

“Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover magical beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents and become the wizard you want to be,” reads the description of the game.

Whether it's being immersed in the main story, its side activities or wandering the halls of Hogwarts Castle and its surrounding areas, there’s tons of fun to be had in the action RPG developed by Avalanche Software.

However, in January 2025, the developers dropped a huge update for Hogwarts Legacy on PC bringing official mod support and providing the community with new tools so that they can continue to breathe new life into the game.

One of those mods, created by Sesoul, is available to download now for free via the official Hogwarts Legacy mod page called ‘The Painting Trials (Dungeons)’.

This free mod brings three new dungeons, a hub area and an arena. What’s more, it has a new mission, puzzles, treasures, items and enemies. Not bad for free.

Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, ‘The Painting Trials (Dungeons)’ is only currently available on PC. That being said, following in the footsteps of Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Starfield, gamers will be hoping that mod support for Hogwarts Legacy eventually comes to consoles.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
