The Grand Theft Auto series is nothing short of bangers and it’s so hard to pick a favourite. There’s a case to be made for Grand Theft Auto IV, though.
Replaying it for the first time since 2014 has been eye-opening, as while the grey and grubby streets of Liberty City have aged poorly due to the graphical advancements, the feeling is still there.
Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a pain to play nowadays, as while it’s available via backwards compatibility on the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 owners have no way of playing aside from booting it up on a PlayStation 3. If they’ve still got one.
PC users don’t fare much better, as the port is notoriously terrible. Fusion Fix changes everything, though.

For those who don’t know, Fusion Fix is a huge overhaul for the PC version of GTA IV, making it actually worth playing in the big 2026.

Its NexusMods page explains things further, saying it fixes a “wide range of technical issues, bugs, and limitations in the game that were left unaddressed in official updates.”
Rockstar Games has never tried to hide its disinterest in PC ports, so God help Grand Theft Auto VI…
If you want an example of one thing the mod does better than Rockstar’s own work, look no further than the driving.
Driving in Grand Theft Auto V felt fast and responsive, we'll give it that, but its predecessor nailed the actual feel of a car. Vehicles actually had a bit of weight to them and the physics meant each turn needed to be carefully calculated to avoid a crash. It made police chases more chaotic.
The PC port hilariously ruined it, though as the higher framerate somehow made you more prone to losing control on a bend. A game about car chases and free roaming somehow made driving feel like a pain.
That’s just one of the many issues Fusion Fix improves, and those who’ve tried the mod for themselves only have positive things to say about it.
Take Dreamboum on X for example, who even went as far to say “modders really saved the GTA 4 PC port after so many years.”
“I can't believe how good it is and how it finally realises the dark and sombre environment that was available on consoles now with proper driving physics to boot.”

It’s a vast improvement through and through and if Rockstar ever decides to remaster GTA IV, we’re praying it gives the PC version some more love this time around.
At the time of writing, getting GTA VI out the door will be the studio’s number one priority but once it’s out in the wild, perhaps we’ll finally get off those modern console ports we’ve been craving.
