There may be just a few months to go until we finally get our hands on 007 First Light but in the meantime, news of an unofficial PC port for the original James Bond game has finally been announced.
Although it would first appear as though 2026 belongs to Lara Croft with multiple Tomb Raider projects in the works, it seems as though James Bond is not far behind.
In May, IO Interactive will be diving into the world of the world-famous spy in 007 First Light, an action-adventure game featuring an original narrative based on the novels and short stories by Ian Fleming.
It is safe to say that it has been quite some time since we have received a video game set in the world of James Bond and as a result, now seems like the perfect time to get us hyped for yet another upcoming project.
Advert
In 2008, it was revealed that Nintendo, Activision, and Microsoft would be coming together to remaster GoldenEye 007, a classic Nintendo 64 title.
First released in 1997, the first-person shooter was published by Nintendo and was based on the 1995 movie, GoldenEye.
Players would take on the role of James Bond as he attempts to prevent a criminal syndicate from using a satellite weapon.
GoldenEye 007 was met with critical acclaim, selling over eight-million copies and marking it as the third-best-selling Nintendo 64 title.
However, the publisher cancelled the remaster project at the last moment.

Pierce Has Seen Better Days
Not all is lost, as now almost a decade later, GoldenEye 007 is back as an unofficial PC port is reportedly underway.
Although the game is already available to emulate, this is the first time that it will be “unofficially” ported to the PC for modern day, meaning that it will run substantially better.
Additionally, mouse and keyboard support will be implemented and will also allow players to utilise mods to make the experience even better.
Following the news, fans took to social media to share their excitement.
“A second chance for the GoldenEye Remaster…” One Youtube comment read.
“Well, they do say 'You Only Live Twice'.”
“This has always been my go to version of GoldenEye ever since the original leak so it's cool to finally see this one getting the recomp treatment!” Another added.
We do not yet have an official release date for GoldenEye 007’s PC port but there is no denying that fans will be highly anticipating its arrival.
