Forget GTA 6, GTA 5 Just Got a Graphics Overhaul For The Ages

This looks so good, it should be illegal

Forget about the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI because GTA V has received a graphics overhaul, and it’s one for the ages.

We all know by now that the next entry in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series arrives next year, and the hype decimals couldn't be much higher. Well, that being said, the GTA VI launch week might take exception to that, I suppose.

However, let’s not forget the little sibling still in the room, that being GTA V. Despite initially releasing in 2013, fans cannot get enough of the Los Santos shenanigans, whether it's single-player offerings or with GTA Online.

“When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber, and a terrifying psychopath find themselves entangled with some of the most frightening and deranged elements of the criminal underworld, the U.S. government, and the entertainment industry,” reads the synopsis of GTA V. “They must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a ruthless city in which they can trust nobody — least of all each other.”

Since its original release, GTA V has launched on every console generation, with each improving on the last with enhanced visuals and performance. In the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, it even made various gameplay improvements.

That being said, when it comes to playing GTA V on PC, it doesn't get much better, largely due to the ever-talented modding community.

As showcased in a video uploaded to the YouTube channel, Digital Dreams, this version of GTA V looks incredible, and that’s putting it mildly. In fact, it looks nothing short of next-gen in an 8K resolution at 60 frames per second.

Of course, you will need a beast of a PC to play this version of GTA V, not to mention having to support the Digital Dreams Patreon to access the mods, but it looks like those additional steps might be worth it.

“Ray tracing gives this game a generational leap, even with old textures and models. And it`s very performant,” said tyr8338 in the comments section.

“Man, it looks worse than a downgraded GTA: San Andreas,” replied Iwillownyouandbehappy, who I assume is being sarcastic.

“Wow,” exclaimed covertgotti, putting it simply.

As for Grand Theft Auto VI, that’s scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At this time, the inevitable PC release hasn't been announced, but we all know that it’s only a matter of time.
