Far Cry fans will soon be able to return to where it all began in a stunning remake of the original title.

Despite its ups and downs over the years, Far Cry is still regarded as one of Ubisoft’s better franchises.

Although each entry into the franchise is narratively different, the action of these first-person shooters has cemented their legacy.

While some Far Cry players look to the future of the series in Far Cry 7 teasers that hint at its title and setting, others prefer returning to its origins.

Speaking of Far Cry, have you found the secret ending in Far Cry 6?

You can play the OG title on Steam in all its blocky, dated glory, or you can rejoice at the impressive revamp of this classic in ‘Far Cry Advance Version’.

Consider this the fresh lick of paint the 2004 release needed.

Developed by HFCR, this mod improves players’ field of view, widescreen visuals, improve gun mechanics, and there’s even the introduction of multiplayer should you want to play with friends.

All in all, it’s a well-rounded, detailed experience.

“Tried the version from the website, great mod,” commented one satisfied player, “I love sprinting animations, iron sights and hit markers.”

Another described it as “quality mod”, which seems to be the resounding sentiment of most of the users who’ve already tried it out.

However, while it’s already gained positive feedback, this is still a mod that’s being worked on and thus bugs are expected.

These are being periodically fixed by the developers, though, so this is an active project the modders intend to keep tweaking and improving.

You could simply buy the OG version and be done with it, but why deny yourself the chance of playing an iconic FPS with various improvements included?

The choice is yours; we hope you choose wisely.

If you’re ready to experience the original gamer anew, ‘Far Cry Advanced Version’ is available for free via moddb.
