Fallout New Vegas gets a VR tease, and it’s fair to say that it’s shattered our expectations, to say the least.
When it comes to post-apocalyptic RPG open-worlds, it doesn't get much better than Bethesda’s Fallout series.
Ever since Bethesda released its first game in the series with Fallout 3 in 2008, the franchise has become more popular than ever, as reflected by the success of the critically acclaimed live-action series on Amazon Prime Video.
Pretty much all entries in this series, even before Bethesda had acquired the rights, have been a banger, and yes, that includes the once-troubled spin-off, Fallout 76. That game was released in a bit of a state, but much like Cyberpunk 2077, it’s now one of the most fun RPG experiences that you can play today.
Released in 2010, Fallout: New Vegas is considered to be one of the best games in the series, which is impressive when you consider that this was never intended to be a full game. Before it began its development, it was going to be an expansion to Fallout 3. I think that proved to be a wise decision by Bethesda.

Even to this day, players cannot get enough of Fallout: New Vegas, which may have garnered a surge of new fans in 2025 with it being the setting of season two of the Amazon series.
However, if you feel like you’ve played Fallout: New Vegas to death and believe you’ve experienced all that this game has to offer, you might want to rethink that, because you can experience the New Vegas wasteland like never before with this VR mod.
“Fallout New Vegas with 6 D.O.F [Six Degrees of Freedom] motion controls in VR?” asked Vrified_Games in a tweet, teasing a gameplay clip. “You read all that correctly. Watch this space for more details coming soon.”
“6DOF is mandatory for VR immersion, and this is my favourite game. I'm going to cry,” declared SgtPepper901.
“Need. Need. Need. Need. Need,” pleaded ChaoBlink.
The only snag here, at least from a console gamer's perspective, as with most mods, this is a PC exclusive. But that’s a disappointment we’re all used to by now.
The Fallout: New Vegas VR mod doesn't have a release date at the time of writing, but it will be worth following Vrified_Games on social media, so you’re ready for when that information drops.
Fallout: New Vegas is backwards compatible on modern Xbox consoles and is included with all tiers of Xbox Game Pass. It’s also available to stream as a PS3 title with PlayStation Plus Premium.
