One very talented modder has reintroduced a piece of unsettling cut content back into the world of Fallout 4, and it looks like something straight out of BioShock.

‘20 Leagues Under the Sea’ is a rather interesting cut quest that was supposed to show up in Fallout 4, following the conclusion of the quest ‘Here There Be Monsters’.

Back in 2022, Todd Howard himself replied to a question in a Reddit AMA asking about the cut content in the games’ files.

“Unfortunate cut content,” Howard replied, “BioShock style Vault. With massive sentient octopus living outside it.”

BioShock, in Fallout 4? Sounds incredible.

If only Fallout 4 had a dedicated, widespread modding community… one that could feasibly undertake a task like this… oh well. C'est la vie.

Just kidding, obviously, because mod author MinitelRouge has turned this piece of cut content into a real, bonafide quest in their mod “20 Leagues Under the Sea - Vault 120.”

The mod author really took the “BioShock” part of the inspiration to heart in this one, because it looks absolutely gorgeous. Hard to believe you’re playing Fallout 4 when you look out the windows.

ICYMI: Take a look at our guide to starting Fallout.

Sound too good to be true? Well, I can assure you it’s all it’s cracked up to be because I played through this last year when I was replaying Fallout 4 (for the fifteenth time).

I can’t say I remember running into a massive sentient octopus however, but I won’t hold that against the mod author.

Don’t take my word for it though, as MinitelRogue released a trailer for the mod themselves. Yeah, your eyes don’t deceive you; the whole thing really is underwater.

Now, if only someone could mod that sentient octopus into the game, too. Actually, let me just check if someone has done that already…

Eh, close enough.
