There is no denying that Fallout 4 can already be spooky with the post-nuclear wasteland being home to all manner of strange and terrifying creatures.

However, this free download adds an even bigger thread to the iconic setting and it is one guaranteed to offer quite the challenge to players.

So which is the better Fallout entry? Find out the answer in our video below!

First released back in 2015, Fallout 4, and the Fallout series as a whole, has had something of a resurgence since its television adaptation, Fallout, aired back in April.

Since then, Fallout won best adaptation at last week’s The Game Awards 2024 which will no doubt cause another influx of players to head to Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic game series.

However, for those who have the urge to return but have completed all Fallout 4 has to offer, modder CryO5 has you covered with their The Glowing Nightmare DLC.

Free to download over on Nexus Mods, The Glowing Nightmare “adds a unique monster that wanders a large region of the map” to the game.

In this lore-friendly story addition, killing the monster will grant players with a unique, legendary set of t45d power armour “that has interesting uses to make it viable in late-game”.

Interesting.

Not only that but The Glowing Nightmare features a side quest aimed at tracking down the monster after collecting various clues scattered across the Commonwealth.

“This mod is my love-letter to Fallout 3, the game which introduced me to what became my favorite franchise of all time,” CryO5 shared.

“The atmosphere, the bleakness, the eeriness, that puke-green color filter, and that sense of "what kind of interestingly awful thing will be in the next area," are all things I loved about that game.

In this month of the game's anniversary, I wanted to share a little splash of that in Fallout 4.”

The Glowing Nightmare is free to download for players who own Fallout 4 on PC.
