Batman Arkham City free download will push you to the limit

Holy Bat-Difficulty!

If you were looking for an extra challenge in Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham City, then you’re in the right place.

Famed developer Rocksteady Studios is known for producing some of the best superhero games of all time with its Batman: Arkham series. However, if we can all pretend that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League never existed from here on out, that would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Batman: Arkham City trailer below!

Depending on who you ask, each fan of Rocksteady Studios might provide a different answer as to what game in the Batman: Arkham series is the best. While 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum holds a special place in my heart, I lean more towards 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight.

That being said, the most well-received game in the series, at least critically, is 2011’s Batman: Arkham City which achieved the highest Metacritic score in the series with 94, earning the “Must-Play” accolade.

“No escape from Arkham City…the sprawling mega-prison in the heart of Gotham City, home to its most violent thugs and infamous super villains,” reads the synopsis of the game. “With the lives of the innocent at stake, only one man can save them and bring justice to the streets of Gotham City… Batman.”

As standard, Batman: Arkham City has three difficulty settings, easy, normal and hard. Then once you’ve finished the campaign for the first time, you can take on its new game plus, bringing over your abilities and upgrades from the previous run.

Yet, what if you wanted a steeper challenge? Well, this free mod called ‘Ascension Overhaul - Insane Difficulty’ should give you a run for your money. It’s created by GPUnity and is available to download via Nexusmods.

This mod brings three new difficulty settings. An overhauled regular difficulty as well as ‘Insane’ said to be recommended for “experienced” players “looking for a challenge.”

Then we have ‘Chaos’ difficulty which simply says in the description “only for the bravest” and perhaps the bold. Even the New Game Plus mode has been overhauled which removes attack indicators and high-level enemies will appear from the start.

Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, this is a PC exclusive. But you can play the entire Batman: Arkham trilogy from Rocksteady Studios as intended on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
