Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom First Person Mode Feels Like A New Game

This looks awesome!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom looks like a totally different game when played in a first-person perspective.

If you’re ever looking for an epic RPG adventure in a fantasy world, it doesn't get much better than the Nintendo series, The Legend of Zelda. Ever since the mid-1980s, it has been a standard bearer of its genre and is still going strong to this very day.

If you were to ask any The Legend of Zelda fan which is their favourite game in the entire series, there’s a good chance that some might say A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time or even The Wind Waker, or at least, they would be mine.

Perhaps for newer fans of the series, they might say The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, both of which would be excellent choices.

In our review of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we said: ”effortlessly dances between the epic and the ridiculous - and every single moment in this vast, gorgeous playground will be unique to each player.”

Traditionally, other than the exception of the very early games in the series, The Legend of Zelda is played in a third-person perspective with a vast 3D open world for players to explore, as is the case with the more recent Nintendo Switch entries.

Play Tears of the Kingdom like never before

A mod on PC, used on an emulated version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, has made it playable in a first-person perspective, making it feel like a brand new game.

This very concept has been brought to life and showcased on the YouTube channel, Digital Dreams, and it looks stunning, largely thanks to it being powered by a GeForce RTX 5090, boosting the game to an 8K resolution, 60 frames-per-second and ray tracing implemented.

That being said, after watching the gameplay for about a minute or so, it did start to make me feel a bit nauseous, which probably has a lot to do with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom never being meant for a first-person perspective.

“It looks amazing,” said xSPARG0 in the comments section on YouTube.

At least officially, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as Breath of the Wild, are both available on the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 right now.
