Fans of The Legend of Zelda series can download and play an Unreal Engine 5 fan-made remake of Ocarina of Time, and it looks stunning.
Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most popular franchises of all time, and despite the first game being released on the NES in 1986, fans' love for the series doesn't look like it will dwindle anytime soon. If anything, it might be more popular than ever.
However, with so many games to choose from, there’s a good chance that each fan would have a different favourite in the series. That being said, there’s every chance that 1998’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 would be at the top of many lists.

For years, fans have been calling for a full remake of Ocarina of Time and the best we’ve had so far, at least officially, is a remake/remaster hybrid for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011.
While it doesn't look like Nintendo will be giving us an official remake of Ocarina of Time anytime soon, even on the upcoming Switch 2, as reported by DSOgaming, a fan has taken matters into their own hands, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Created by CryZENx, the free downloadable demo lets you play in Zora’s Domain, located beneath Lake Hylia. And no, this is not the area that features the infamous Water Temple, so you’re safe from that stress.
The free playable demo is locked at 30 frames per second, which is fine, especially for free. Judging by comments on CryZENx’s Patreon page, financial backers will have access to a 60fps version.
“I love your work, dude! The time and attention to bring something like Ocarina of Time in a whole new way is amazing,” said BellicoseBolter.

“Your work is just incredible. So beautiful and so respectful of the original. Thanks,” commented Yann Pasco.
Hopefully, Nintendo won't be Nintendo and find a way to shut down this project for good, but just in case, you might want to download it sooner, rather than later.
