Nintendo has just revealed the release date for Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream during today’s Direct.

As revealed earlier today in the Nintendo Direct, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream will launch for Nintendo Switch on 16 April, 2026.

Coming to the Nintendo Switch, it'll also be available for Nintendo Switch 2 via backwards compatibility and have features that will only work with that version of the game.

Tomodachi Life is a life sim game which tasks you with creating an island full of Mii characters, and having them participate in various activities.

These Miis exist on an open tropical island, where they can interact with each other, hang out, go shopping, and fall in love. They can also give each other gifts for a big friendship boost, or get into fights if rivalries are formed. Y'know, for a bit of drama.

Nintendo Has Added Various Customisation Features To Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream

Nintendo also made sure to show off the Studio Workshop feature, where you can use the Switch 2's mouse controls to make custom art pieces and add them to your world, such as designing pets, putting up art, or adding them to the island's decor.

These will help you with the room design feature, where you can create and design a room in your house for your Miis to truly call their own.

This feature has major Animal Crossing vibes, with the amount of customisation it allows you to feature in your home. The Direct ended by showing off the various ways your Miis can coexist, including the activities that they can do while living together. I know what you're thinking, but get your mind out of the gutter. They're talking about coffee.

Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream was originally announced just under a year ago, during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, with a second Direct in September showing off more of the Mii creation feature.
