Resident Evil Gamers Losing It Over New Remakes

It’s not that surprising, to be fair

Resident Evil gamers are losing it over the potential of some highly-rated remakes coming to a new console.

When the original Resident Evil was released in 1996, the Capcom survival horror series instantly cemented its place as one of the great video game franchises of all time, thanks to its haunting location, tense atmosphere, horrific creatures and a dose of cheesy Barry Burton one-liners.

Today, the franchise is still going strong with its latest offering, Resident Evil Requiem, arriving next year, starring Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa from Resident Evil Outbreak.

Resident Evil Requiem looks to ramp up the horror and takes us back to Raccoon City, roughly 30 years after it was nuked in an attempt by the US government to cover up the Umbrella Corps T-Virus outbreak.

In my hands-on preview of the upcoming game, I said, “This demo left me terrified and wanting more. If this demo sets the tone for what’s to come in the full game, Resident Evil Requiem has the potential to be the scariest game in the series.”

Last week, during an hour-long Nintendo Direct event, it was not only confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem is headed to the Switch 2, but so too are Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village.

As such, fans hope that other games in the series will also come to the Nintendo Switch 2, and according to video game industry insider, ‘Nate the Hate’, that wish may soon come true.

“Nate the hate implies he’s heard Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes are coming to Switch 2,” said Redditor spiderman897, sharing a YouTube video of the rumour in question. What's more, the two remakes will reportedly have ray-tracing and the capabilities of 120 frames-per-second, the same as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

“I hope they release them as a pack similar to Resident Evil 4/5/6,” replied spideyv91, with spiderman897 adding, “He said he thinks they are.”

“I 100% believe Resident Evil remakes 2 to 4 are ending up on the Nintendo Switch 2,” said Jibsie.

“If Capcom loved me, it would release them on an actual game cart,” exclaimed TheLimeyLemmon.

I think it’s only a matter of time until the remakes for Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 are announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, and when that happens, we’ll be sure to update you right away.

Resident Evil Requiem will be released on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will also release on the Nintendo Switch 2, the very same day.
